Ardmore, OK — Funeral services for Walter Adrain Broughton will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, in Craddock Memorial Chapel. Rev. Ron Elmore, Clarence Mize and Rev. David Colaw will officiate.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
He was born September 22, 1918, at Pontotoc, Okla. to Walter Burris Broughton and Fronie Hooper Broughton. He departed this life on April 24, 2009, in Ardmore.
He was a graduate of Graham High School and Murray State College.
A longtime Ardmore area resident, he was married to Barry Jo Adair at Clemscott on Sept. 5, 1939.
Adrian was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Force. Before going into the service he was with the John Heasty Flying Service. It was there he received his Pilot's license, aircraft engine mechanic and parachute riggers license and his inspector's rating. He retired as the ranch manager for Goddard Ranch. Following his retirement he spent many hours volunteering at nursing and retirement homes and senior citizens centers.
He was a member of the Gene Autry First Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Jo, of the home; two daughters, Jovan Hodges and husband Johny, Ada and Adrianne Fox, Norman; son, Dan Broughton and wife Ann, Norman; two nephews, Bill Maddox, Gainesville and Glen Adair, Apache six grandchildren, Dennis Broughton and wife Sandra, Blake Broughton, Judy Hise and husband, Frank, Jovan Buckley and husband David, Brett Broughton and wife, Bailey Ann and Eric Broughton and wife, Toni.
Pallbearers will be Brett, Eric, Dennis, and Blake Broughton. Glen Adair and
Mel Adair. Honorary bearers will be Charles Adair, Dewey Adair, Johny Hodges, Bo Fore, Bill Maddox, Bobby Williams and the men of the Gene Autry First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Ruby Sims, Pearl Johnston and Verba Maddox.
