Was Stricken With Paralytic Stroke Upon Return From Shopping Trip
Mrs. Clara Blakney of 507 North Madison street, Bloomington, died last evening about 9:30 o'clock following a paralytic stroke in the afternoon about 3:40 o'clock, shortly after returning home from a shopping trip in town.
Clara Christina Becker was born in Lexington, February 24, 1876. She was married to George Blakney in Lexington, January 31, 1899. They went to Bloomington with their family about four years ago where Mr. Blakney has since been employed in the Chicago & Alton shops. Besides the grief stricken husband, Mrs. Blakney is survived by five children: Russell, Mrs. Helen Jones, Florence, Irene and Karl, all of Bloomington. There is one grandchild. There are also two sisters and two brothers: Laura Becker, of Missoula, Mont., and Mrs. Catherine Pritt, Charles and George Becker, all of Lexington. There is also a half-brother residing in Houston, Texas.
She was a faithful member of the Presbyterian church. Her sudden demise will be learned by her numerous acquaintances in Lexington with deep regret.
Brief services will be held from the home Friday, after which the funeral party will come to Lexington and funeral services will be held from the Presbyterian church here at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. Frank A. Campbell presiding. Interment will be made in the family lot in the Lexington cemetery.
