Virgil Dee Black, 94, of Olive Hill, died Monday, April 5 in St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead.

Mr. Black was born Dec. 26, 1904, in Morgan County, a son of the late Allen and Cloie Susan Day Black.

He was a former real estate employee and a cattle trader. He was a member of Masonic Lodge in Morehead and Church of God in Soldier.

Surviving are his wife, Opal Blevins Black; four daughters, Valeria Black Standley of Kahuku, Hawaii, Byrthald Black Todd of Springdale, Ohio, Angela Black Rutan of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, and Pamela Black Matura of Bidwell, Ohio; three stepdaughters, Wilma Evans, Jessie and Lou Evans Back, both of Olive Hill, and Glenna Evans Jenkins of Alliance, Ohio; a sister, Jewell Black Kenley of Evansville, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; and 17 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Black.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 9 at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill by Gayle Price. Burial was in Garvin Ridge Cemetery.

A masonic service was held at the funeral home.
