He was born June 18th, 1932, in Denver to Robert and Vera Johnson Smith. He and his wife, Joan Job Smith, were married November 5th, 1952 in Ipswich, South Dakota.
Smith served in the army for two years and in the Air Force for four years. He worked as a truck driver.
Wife Joan passed away Sept 18, 2011. Survivors include three sons, Stephen and wife Sherry of Creswell, Allen and wife Debi of Fairbanks, AK and Tommy of Prinville; two daughters, DeAnn Daves and husband Danny of Springfield and Debbie Cutshall and husband Jim of Anchorage, AK; and sister, Mary Singer of Klamath Falls.
He was "Pappa" to seven grandchildren, Mindi Hall, Joel Smith, Brandon Smith, Stephanie Francis, Andy Daves, Taylor Smith, and Christopher Cutshall; and one great-grandchild at his time of death, Ethan Conner. Since his death, Allison Hall and Atlas and Trice Daves have also been born.
A son, James Edward Smith, died July 3, 1957, and is buried at Olivewood Memorial Park in Riverside, CA.
