On February 18, 2009, veteran Baltimore County teachers, Robert and Paulette Kirkpatrick, were killed in West Miami, Dade County, Florida by a man driving a truck under the influence of alcohol. The drunk driver, whose license had been suspended, has been charged with two counts of manslaughter and DUI. He had previously been arrested three times on drunken driving charges and had a blood alcohol level that was three times the legal limit.

The Phoenix couple had retired a few years ago. Robert was chairman of Perry Hall school's art department and Paulette was chairwoman of the school's English department. They were both 62 years old.

The Kirkpatrick's will be remembered as teachers who made a difference in the lives of the students they taught.†

On February 18, 2009, ROBERT C. KIRKPATRICK and PAULETTE A. KIRKPATRICK (nee Arnold), beloved father and mother of Jen Kirkpatrick and her fiance Jeff and Steve Kirkpatrick and his wife Amber. Loving grandparents of Kathryn, Quinn, and Cooper Kirkpatrick. Also survived by Robert's brother Tom Kirkpatrick.

A Funeral Service will be held at the family owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home Inc., 1050 York Road (beltway exit 26), on Saturday at 4pm. Interment private. Friends may call on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Memorial contributions to The American Cancer Society will be appreciated.†
