Jim was born in Powers, Oregon to Joe and Gladys (Lewis) Rouw. He moved with his family to Portland and graduated from Commerce High School in 1942.

Jim entered the Navy on Oct. 20, 1942 and served in the South Pacific during WW II on the USS Boston. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 17, 1946 and returned to Portland.

Jim married Sallie Jo Crawford on Apr. 14, 1946 in Newport, OR. They made their home in Portland where he was employed by Portland Terminal Railroad. He retired in 1976 as a locomotive engineer. Jim was a 4th generation railroad man. After retirement Jim and Sallie Jo moved to Milwaukie and later to Orient in 1993.

Jim was a baseball fan. He also enjoyed hunting traveling, camping and spending time with his family. Jim was a man of faith and will be remembered as a man who always tried to do his best, sometimes under difficult circumstances.

JIm passed away at home due to a heart attack. May God bless you, may God love you and may God keep you faithful servant.
