Willie Burton
Willie Burton, 90, died Monday, March 2, 2009, at Silver Oaks Health Center in Columbus. He was a resident of Taylorsville.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Burton of Taylorsville and Linda (Carson) Scarbrough of Crandall, Ga.; four granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba (Gideon) Burton; his parents, William Thomas and Mintie (Burton) Burton; two brothers, Paul and Ransom Burton; and five sisters, Callie Herron, Pinkie Totten, Nettie Cook and Verilla and Lela Burton.
The Revs. Carson Scarbrough and Nathan Shockley will conduct a celebration of life service at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethel Holiness Church, 6060 U.S. 31 North, Columbus. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Edinburgh American Legion Post No. 233 will conduct military graveside rites.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th St., Columbus, IN 47201; or to Bible Methodist Camp Meeting Association, 1355 Chula Vista Drive, Pell City, AL 35125.
