GAITHERSBURG, MD -- C.T. Mathis, age 81, died Friday, February 6, 2009, in Gaithersburg, MD. C.T. was a native son of Wilmington. He was born to Coy T. and Fannie Lee Mathis, fifth of seven siblings. He and his wife Grace of Gaithersburg, were married in 1957. They had three sons: David, Wayne and Robert. He was pre-deceased by his siblings: Thomas Earle, Mary Elizabeth, Geneva, Barbara and Eloise. His remaining sibling is Dr. Harry R. Mathis of Wilmington.

C.T. served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II and much of his service was spent in Hawaii. Upon being discharged he took a technical course in bricklaying and his creations were a work of art.

He was a loving husband and a devoted father.

The funeral was held with full military honors with soldiers from the Honor Guard at Arlington Cemetery. The funeral service was held at the Gaithersburg Church of the Nazarene by the Pastor Ben Spitler.
