Colman Johnson left Missouri to try farming in eastern Washington near Govan, WA. He did a land trade with a rancher in Meagher County and moved to the Johnson Ranch on Butte Creek, near Black Butte and a few miles north of White Sulphur Springs.
Coleman married Mary Permalia "Mame" Pruitt in October of 1894. They had 5 children, Chester Allen, Ralph Ward, Ray Randall, Eula Fae, and Ely C. Ely was my father-in-law.
Colman died in an accident and the Butte Creek ranch was sold. He died at the Edward "Ned" Fuller ranch just above the mouth of Newlan Creek about 8 miles west of White Sulphur Springs. His son Ely lived most of his life on an 80 acre ranch about 1 mile east of where Colman died.
In 1883, his Granddaughter, Kathleen Fae (Johnson) Russell visited the area of Willow Springs, Missouri where he was from and talked to some of his relatives that still lived there,
