His parents were John Severt Berg and Olava Berg.I don't know if they came over from Norway or not. I know nothing of this family.
On the 1880 census he is listed as a cook in a lumber camp. When he moved to Washington State he bought a farm so for a time he was a farmer.
On the 12th of Sept 1893 John signed his final papers to
become a citizen of the United States of America in Clark County Washington.
Mother said when he disappeared he went out to look for work and never came back. They thought he went back to Norway but I found out he was admitted to a Mental Institute in Washington State in 1900 and released in 1905. By this time Effie had sold the farm and moved her family to Portland, Oregon.
John was my great-grandfather and I would like to know what happened to him after his release from the Mental Hospital I am still researching.
