ARCHIBALD LAFAYETTE "ARCHIE" ADAMS, 72, was born 15 May 1842 in Newberry, South Carolina to parents Richard Fields & Zora Elizabeth (Spearman) Adams. He wed after the Civil War to Selia Ann Harrison on 3 December 1865 in Decatur County, Georgia. He had served honorably for the Confederate cause in the Civil War enlisting in Mitchell County, Georgia as a private. He served in several units. The first being Cobb's Legion, then Siege Battery of St. Marks from Georgia, Company H, 27th Georgia Infantry. He and his wife came to Houston County in 1873. After the war he also served as an election judge and county commissioner in Houston, Texas where they lived. He was buried 8 October 1914 Houston County, Texas Adams-Little Cemetery, Houston County where he lies next to his wife of 49 years.
