Dorothy A. Joy, age 83 of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly a longtime resident of York, Nebraska, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Omaha. She was born on January 6, 1924 to Jess & Katherine (McGee) Jasperson. Dorothy was a graduate of Nelson High School and was married to Henry Joy on April 17, 1944 in Bath, Maine. She worked in a number of jobs while living in York including Tobers Clothing Store, Beins Drug Store and the Garden Gate. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, an avid reader and loved to visit with friends.Dorothy is survived by two sons, Dennis Clark Joy and wife Kathe of Omaha and Victor Lynn Joy of Quitman, AR,; one daughter, Sue Ellen and her husband Ted Kopczynski of San Diego, CA.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson and a sister, Mary Slocum of Geneva, NE. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, and granddaughter Jessica.Funeral services were held Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Jeff Wulf officiating. Graveside services were Monday, July 16 at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, NE. Memorials may be directed to the Florence Home, 7915 N. 30th St., Omaha, NE, 68112 or the York VFW Auxiliary.Metz Mortuary of York, NE was in charge of arrangements.
