Elizabeth 'Betty' Helvey Haley was the daughter of Bertha G. (Stahl) and John J. Helvey of Ohio. She married James Hyland Haley in 1917, and they made their home in Sewickley, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. From this marriage three children were born, George H., Betty Jane, and Robert J. Haley.
Betty trained at the Sewickley Hospital and worked there for many years as a nurse. After a few years she was left to raise her three children on her own. The children were all educated in the Sewickley School System, and during and after World War II each drifted to California where they all made their homes.
Betty also joined her children in California and lived in the San Diego area until she passed away on May 11, 1971. She is buried in Greenwood Memorial Park.
