He was a member of West Jackson St. Baptist Church in Tupelo, Ms. He taught a fourth grade Sunday School Class for several years. He was a Navy Veteran and very patriotic. He worked for Union National Life Insurance Company for thirty years and was a District Manager for seventeen years. He enjoyed music, hunting, fishing, all sports, and people. He was an avid LSU fan. He loved participating in activities with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Diane Boyd; and one nephew, Tony Watson, and adopted father, Alvin Holcomb.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jerri Kelly; one daughter, Evette Lange of Bentonville, Ar.; one son and his wife, Chip and Michelle Kelly of St. Louis, Mo; one sister and her husband, Brenda and John Cain of Ferriday, La.; adopted mother Louise Holcomb of Tupelo, MS; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; Winston and Kay Jenkins of Natchez, Ms.; Ada Finn of Natchez, Ms., James and Barbara Brasher of Ferriday, La. Three grandchildren, Kelly Lange, Mallory Lange, and Hunter McKee; six nieces; seven nephews; one uncle Fred Spencer and wife Bonnie, of Mangham, La.; a special cousin Glen Davis; numerous great nieces and nephew; and great great nieces and nephews. Also, numerous cousins.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Young's Chapel with Bro. Bo Swilley and Bro. Wayne Gray Officiating.
Burial was at the Rogers Cemetery in Clayton, La.
Pallbearers were Bill Colvin, Neil Faulkner, Jack Lofton, Manson Nelson, Jr., Paul Riggs, William Seyfath, Kenneth Watson and Lane Watson.
Honorary Pallbearers were Hiram Copeland, H. L. Irvin, Charles Massey, Billy Rucker, Glen McGlothin, and Ferriday Bulldogs Class of 1959.
