He was called Lee all his life. The first 12 years were growing up in Texas County, Missouri. It was a big family of boys and only one sister. His father was William issac and his mother was Sarah Evoline. He spoke of childhood memories where he would lay by the fire place and hold his kitten. His Mother had the nickname of "walking encyclopedia"..given to her by the teachers who boarded with the family. In the late 1890's her leaf allergies became so bad that the family moved to Oklahoma Territory in a wagon. Lee's mother was afraid if they came by train it would be attack by Indians. One year later, her health had improved so much, Lee's father went back and sold the Missouri place. At the Liberty Hill School, he met his future bride Stella McFall and they married in 1907. Lee's grandfather John Willy Brown married them in the home place at Cheyenne Oklahoma. That same year Oklahoma became state. The teen couple farmed and had three children Earl, Walter & Myrtle by 1913. They tried homesteading in New Mexico, but sold out to Lee's Uncle Columbus and moved back to the Norman Oklahoma area. After farming they moved into a home in Norman Oklahoma on Carter Street. Lee worked many years at OU in the Power Plant. He had a home business of repairs. He could mold and cast in aluminum any part needed. He raised goats and had a garden. Two more daughter Arlene & Thelma were added to the family. Lee was an inventive person and very entertaining. His wit was sharp. Family gatherings as the grandchildren came were on a regular basis.
