For Wm. Espy

Mr. William Espy, 83, Appanoose county pioneer, died Friday evening in St Joseph hospital, from a stroke suffered early Friday. He lived alone in Darby and was found ill Friday morning.

April 27, 1893 he married Emma Horstman who died Oct. 27, 1938. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Cecil O'Conner, Mrs. Veva Boyer of Centerville, Mrs. Icle Sulser. Melrose, Mrs. Wilma Whicker of Moravia; four sons, Russell and Earl of Centerville, Virgil of Berkley, Calif., Delmar of Rockford, ILL.; and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Kaster, Moravia, Mrs. Myrtie Wilson, Numa, and Mrs. Ida Dietzman of Rockford, Illinois; 26 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 6, at 2:00 p.m., from the Turner funeral home, with Rev. Paul Madden in charge. Burial was in Fairview cemetery.
