DANIEL NATHAN ALTIS

Daniel Nathan Altis, son of Nathan and Anna Altis, was born near Cabool, Missouri February 15, 1886, and passed away at his home near Willow Springs May 9th, 1952, at the age of 66 years, one month and 15 days.

In August, 1910, he married Miss Bessie Gitt, and to this union one son was born. His entire life was lived near Cabool, Mo., and down through the years he won many friends. He leaves to mourn his passing one son Roy Altis of Salem, Missouri, one half brother William Brooks of Commerce, Oklahoma, one sister, Mrs. Virgie Hudson, Frontenac, Kansas. Two half sisters, Mrs. Sally Chapman and Mrs. Lula Hutsell, both of Mountain Grove, Missouri, three grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

All of whom will keenly feel the loss of a companion, father, brother, friend and neighbor. It can truly be said of him he was a real citizen, a desirable neighbor, and a friend to everyone who knew him. His going was indeed sudden, but memory of him will be long lasting. He was especially interested in the religious activities of his community and a regular attendant at all church services.

Thus closed the life of another of our fellow travelers, and going sudden as he did, should be a strong reminder to one and all of the importance of being ready to answer the call when it comes our way, and as we passed by his casket, we imagined we could almost hear the voice of him who slept repeating these words:

Remember dear friends as you pass by,
As you are now, so once was I,
As I am now, soon you will be,
Prepare for death and eternity.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hoag, in the Clear Springs church where he had for quite some time attended services, and grave services were in charge of the undersigned, burial was in the Cabool Cemetery under the direction of the Burns Funeral Directors of Willow Springs.
