Mrs. Etha (Ether) Dunn Gimble of Tyler, Texas, a native of Caldwell Parish, died Sunday night of last week in the Colonel Guest Home in Lindale after a lengthy illness. She was 88 years old, the daughter of the late Dudley J. Dunn and Laureata F. Meredith Dunn. The parents are both buried in the Old Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Gimble was born in Columbia at the time her father was town marshal of Columbia and also serving as deputy sheriff under Jack J. Meredith. She was the youngest of 18 children who all preceded her in death. Three of these children, Mrs. Annie Dugal, Gordon Dunn and Biscuit Dunn were half brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gimble were held Tuesday, October 4, from the chapel of the Ed B. Caudle Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas, with the H. L. Lee and the Rev. Cecil Thomas officiating. Interment followed in the New Harmony Cemetery.

Among the area survivors include Buel West of the Mt. Pleasant community, R. Garland May of Monroe and Clyde C. May of Tallulah. Mrs. Ether Mayes Woods of Columbia was a name sake.

Pallbearers were Herman Gimble, Milton Adams, Clyde C. May, Douglas May, William F. Gimble and Jack Gimble.
