Son of Joseph & Jane (Morgan) Myers. Husband of Mary Adeline Huffman and Virginia Beaty.

Born in Burlington, Iowa, he came west with his family in 1852, traveling across the plains in a covered wagon pulled by oxen. He spent his early childhood in the Bangor-Rackerby area in Butte County, CA on the family homestead. As a young man he moved into northeastern California where he was a sheep shearer for Peleg Chase in Modoc County, CA.

He returned to the Butte/Yuba county area where he was a farm laborer. He met & married Mary Adeline Huffman on May 12, 1886 in Marysville, CA. They returned to Modoc County where they lived to about 1892 and where 2 of their 7 children were born. They again returned to the Marysville area where they settled near Honcut.

William & Mary had 7 children with 6 reaching adulthood, Sarah Permelia "Millie"; John Franklin; Raymond Benjamin; Walter Leslie; Elberta Alice & James Allen. Mary died 2 days after giving birth to James in 1903. Being a young father with 6 small children to raise, he moved in with his in-laws, John & Permelia Huffman.

In 1911, William Myers married a second time to Virginia Beaty. He died almost three years later at his home near Honcut on April 7, 1914 about three in the afternoon.

William Myers was an ardent church worker, with a kindly, unpretentious manner.
