Viola F. Schuette, age 96, of Pigeon passed away Saturday morning, May 28, 2011. She was Born July 3, 1914 in Windsor Twp. at the home of her parents, the daughter of the late Charlie and Hulda (Barr) Heck.

Viola lived in the Pigeon area all her life and was a 1932 graduate of Pigeon High School. On June 2, 1934, she was united in marriage to Edward Schuette at St. John's Lutheran Church, Berne. Ed preceded her in death April 18, 1964.

Viola was employed at Rundell Floor Covering in Pigeon for 18 years and at William Magwood Furniture for 7 years, retiring in 1981. She also worked part time at the Polewach Store in Pigeon for over 30 years. She was an active member of Cross Lutheran Church for 77 years and taught Sunday School for 36 years. Viola loved to travel and make quilts. Her claim to fame came when she appeared as an extra in the move "Somewhere in Time" filmed on Mackinaw Island with Christopher Reeve and Jayne Seymour.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Helen (Ron) Greene, and Dorothy Young and her fiance Doug Thuemmel; 5 grandchildren, Linda (Bill) Monroe, Mary (Alan) El Tagi, John (Brenda) Greene, Dana Young and Dr. Bryan (Julie) Young; 8 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; her brother, Raymond (Maude) Heck; sister-in-law and dear friend, Lila Heck; former son-in-law, Jerry Young and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were 2 brothers, Alvin and Morris Heck; a sister, Helen Krueger; and a great great grandson.

Funeral services were held at Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon with Rev. Tim Loehrke, pastor who officiated, and burial in Cross Lutheran Cemetery.
