BUCKMAN -- Steve J. Mueller, 81, Buckman, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at the Pierz Villa.

He was born July 14, 1920, near Buckman to Mathias and Anna (Beka) Mueller. He attended country school in Morrill. From 1937-1939, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. He entered the Marine Corps on March 13, 1942, and served in the Pacific Theater with the 1st Marine Division until his discharge on April 12, 1946. He worked at various jobs until 1949 when he began working for Northern States Power Co. He became the warehouse foreman at the NSP Chestnut Service Center in Minneapolis, retiring after 33 years in 1982. He returned to Buckman and lived there until declining health caused him to live at Harmony House and later at the Pierz Villa. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman.

Survivors include a brother, Joseph Mueller, St. Paul; and four sisters, Mary Ann Mueller, Minneapolis, Colette Mencacci, St. Paul, Betty Johnson, St. Paul, and Agatha Beckwith, St. Paul.

A sister, Pauline Wills, and two brothers, Edward and Gregor Mueller, died earlier.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman with the Rev. Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus Office of the Dead at 8 p.m. at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz and an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
