"John Homer Turner was born October 22, 1834 in Georgia. After serving in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, he married Nancy Georgia Ann Sizemore in 1867, born May 22, 1847 in Georgia. They made their home at Box Springs, near Columbus, in Georgia. They had ten children." The Turner family is found in Coryell County, Texas in the 1900 census. They moved to Coleman County, Texas about 1906. In the 1910 Coleman County census, Nancy is shown as the head of the household, but married.

John was found in the Texas State Insane Asylum in Austin in 1910 and is on the 1910 census there. He is shown as committed from Coleman County in January 1910. He died there in 1916 and is buried in the Austin State Hospital Cemetery. In those days, he could have had any number of physical or mental problems that would have required his committment, even being senile.
