Funeral services for Julia Rhea Roberts, 90, of Levelland will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, Levelland, Texas. Burial will be in the City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home. She died Monday, April 20, 2009 at her home. She was under the care of Hospice of Lubbock.
Born July 16, 1918 in Hunt County, Texas to Johnnie Robert and Ethel Mae Stapp Barker, she moved to Levelland, Texas in 1944 from Paris, Texas. She married Hershell DeWitt Roberts on July 23, 1944 in Greenville, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2008. She had worked for Trinity Universal Insurance Company prior to her marriage. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church, Levelland, where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She also taught Sunday School.
Survivors include her children, James Roberts and wife Dorothy of Odessa, Texas, Kaye Brown and husband David of Levelland, Texas, Pam Hammerle and husband John, and Jan Roberts, all of Lubbock, Texas; her grandchildren, Jeff Roberts and wife Patty, Alayna Brooks and husband Steve, Devin Brown and wife Betsy, Kristy Brown, Whitney Herion and husband Todd, Kaimey Ela and husband Scott; her great grandchildren Christian, Jonah, and Emily Roberts, Levi, Sam, Lily-Grace and Joey Brooks, Cora Brown, Matthew Herion, and Harper and Hudson Ela; her brother Johnnie Barker and wife Ruth of Greenville, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
