Catharine R. Brubaker, 93, of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by her family and went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 13, 2009 at Hospice of Lancaster County Mount Joy Facility.

Born in Rapho Township she was the daughter of the late Harry and Esther Charles Rohrer. She was the wife of the late Robert M. Brubaker who died in 1990.

As a member at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Mount Joy for over 67 years, she faithfully shared her time and talents, the latest being knitting numerous prayer shawls for the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Her loving kindness was generously shared as she was a volunteer for the Mount Joy Thrift and Gift Shop for over 30 years and for a time at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim along with her enjoyment of sewing many quilts for "Project Linus". She has shown all of us God's Goodness, His Grace, His Mercy and His Loving Kindness. We have all been made better because of her love given to us. Her heart grew as her family grew. Everyone gathered around Mom. She was our ROCK and the matriarch of the family, a blessed gift from God. Her favorite thing was our family gatherings surrounded with love and laughter. We will miss her beautiful smile!

Surviving are three sons, Robert M. husband of Donna S. Bohannon Brubaker of Lancaster, James R. husband of Mary R. Henne Brubaker of Mount Joy, Jack R. husband of Connie E. Hayes Brubaker of Lancaster, a daughter, Joanne wife of George Warrick Jr. with whom she resided , sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren, a brother, Emerson husband of Arlene Rohrer of Hubbard, Ohio, and a sister, Helen Hoffecker of Manchester, New Hampshire. Catharine was preceded in death by two grandsons, Steve and Barry Butzer, a great grandson, Sammy Scheffler, a brother, Harry Rohrer, and four sisters: Mary Gummo, Anne Kann, Esther Mentzer, and Ruth Moore.

A special thank you to Lancaster General Hospital and Hospice of Mount Joy for their care and consideration extended to Mom and her family, and also a thank you to all those individuals who prayed.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service from St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 27 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA, (Please enter main entrance from the back of the church) on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend David Woolverton officiating.
