Bessie May Japp, 80, of Sterling, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, in Brush. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, at Tennant Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Hopkins officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
Bessie was born March 21, 1922, to James Edward Beam and Verna (Trout) Beam in Proctor. She attended school in Proctor.
On June 13, 1950, she married DeWayne E. Japp in Santa Fe, N.M. She lived in Sterling all of her married life.
Bessie enjoyed arrowhead hunting, collecting rocks, fishing trips to the mountains, bird watching, gardening and riding along with her husband hunting. She also loved sewing, making crafts and baking for her family.
Bessie is survived by one son, David Japp and wife Debora of Sterling; two daughters, Dorea Sewald and husband Tom of Sterling, and Betty Campbell of Willow Springs, Mo.; five brothers, Bud Beam of Denver; Marve Beam of Greeley, Glenn Beam of Dewey, Ariz., Bob Beam of Greeley, and Junior Beam of Iliff; three sisters, Izola Nagel of Greeley, Anne Koehler of Sterling, and Ida May Klimt of Kimball, Neb.; 13 grandchildren, Ryan Japp, Dawn Wis dom and husband Todd, Rachelle Maker and husband Chris, Dusty Japp and wife Kami, Star Japp, Nathan Japp and wife Jessica, John Campbell, Janet Springer and hus band Patrick, Joey and Jerry Campbell, Jason Sewald and wife Audrey, Tara Streeb and husband Kelly, and Terance Sewald and Amanda; and eight great-grandchildren, Evan and Scottlin Wisdom, Kaityn Maker, Brendon Japp, Eric and Andrea Springer, Colleen Sewald and Dominic Streeb.
She was preceded in death by her husband, DeWayne; one grandson, Jimmy Camp bell; and one son-in-law, John Campbell.
