Herbert Carter Walker was the son of Henry Andrew and Mary Adelaide Hunt Walker. He was the oldest of four boys and three girls. He was born and lived in Washington County all his life ; only to venture off to Kansas and Missouri in his young adult days. He married first to Jessie Pauline Diehl and second to Lucille Morrow. He was a devout Methodist and a staunch Republican. He was a dairy farmer winning the DHIA award in 1951 and a merchant in Sulphur Springs. He was a supervisor working on the Bowmantown road and it has been said he had one of the best teams of mules that were used for the road work. He kept the team in Drury Morrow's barn and that is how he met my mother Lucille Morrow. They had a good life together which lasted almost 50 years.

The baby boy born and died with his mother Jessie Diehl Walker was not named on the death certificate and I had been told if he had lived he may have been called "Billy Joe" ; when I found the obituary I was surprised to find Maynard Joe. Wish I could talk with them about the naming.
