Visitations for Otho L. Newcomer, age 87, will be Saturday, April 26, 2003 from 5-8 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 3950 Front St., Hwy. 15, Winnsboro, LA. Funeral services will be Sunday, April 27, 2003 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Crowville, LA with Brother Carl Gulde officiating. Burial will be at the Masonic Cemetery, Crowville.
Mr Newcomer died Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Oaks Care Center in Pineville, La.
Otho worked for Louisiana Power and Light Company (Entergy) for 42 years. Since 1957, he was a construction foreman for the Northern Division, West Monroe, LA. He was also a Master Mason for 50 years. Otho served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1943 and was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant.
Otho was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Hortense Simmons Newcomer. In addition to his parents, Josephine and Burton Newcomer, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bonnie Burton and Thomas Ray and one sister, Doris Smith.
He is survived by three daughters Gwen Smith, Bonnie Jo Taylor and husband Joe, Kathleen LeBoeuf and husband, Peter; five grandchildren, Stacey McPherson, Wade Griswold, Natalie Grubb, Stuart Smith and Michael LeBoeuf; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua McPherson, Willie, Rebecca and Shelby Griswold, Lucas Grubb and Peter and Patrick LeBoeuf.
Pallbearers will be Frank Freeman, Travis Walker, Mike Walker, Tony Amos, Billy Buchan and Eddy Ward.
