Ellery J. Creger, was born at Ontario, Canada, November 28, 1859, and at the age of one year he came with his parents to Clinton County, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Ricka [Fredericka] Langbehn on December 16, 1886. Immediately after their marriage they moved to Waterloo where they resided for nine years. They then came from Waterloo to their farm near Plainfield, where they have resided for the past sixteen years. Two years ago Mr. Creger built one of the best farm houses in this county. Deceased had been in poor health for the past two years. He was called from the scenes of this life early Monday morning, August 12, 1912, to his eternal home, being 52 years, 9 months and 28 days of age. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Ricka Creger, one daughter, Lela May Thompson, three sons Harry B., Ralph Ellery, and Hillis Ray. He also leaves four brothers and two sisters. Charlotte Louisfield, Fred, and Albert of Lost Nation, Henry of Elwood, Wm. of Lowden, and Ella Cook of Hanab, Okla, all of whom with the exception of Mrs. Cook were at his bedside when the final summons came.

Mr. Creger was well and favorably known in this community and in the sixteen years he lived in this locality has formed a large number of friendships and acqaintances, who extend their heartful sympathy to the family in their bereavement. He was a member of the Plainfield M. E. church, also a member of the Plainfield camp, Modern Woodman of America. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the M. E. church by Rev. Hillman.
