Welborn Lawrence Adams, Jr. 73, a resident of Berry, died Monday Jan 21, 2008 at Harrison Memoridal Hospital in Cynthiana, Ky.

He was born on March 19, 1934, the son of the late Welborn Sr. and Sarah Owens Adams. He was a member of Berry Baptist Church, attended Fairview Baptist Church, a charter member, past president and secretary of the Berry Lions Club, co-organizer, past president and past fire chief of the Northern Harrison Rural Fire Department, current board member of the Harrison County Water Association, superintendent and secretary of the Pythian Grove Cemetery, past Republican Party chairman of Harrison County, founder of the Berry Festival, past constable of Berry, and a 1994 retiree of the United Postal Service as a mail carrier.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patty Adams; two sons, Welborn Lawrence (Chip) Adams III of Lexington, Ky., and David Earl (Heather) Adams of Berry; one daughter, Julie Denise (Richard) Dailey; four grandchildren, Donovan, Isaac and Frazier Dailey and Angela Robin Adams; five step-grandchildren, JD Rex and Shyanne Ewing, Mary and Mandy Oroszco and Mike Mudd; two brothers, John (Peggy) Adams of Berea, Ky., and Don (Ruth) Adams of Berry; three sisters, Betty (Pappy Crawford) King of Berry, Ronnie (Clayton Martin) Edmonson of Williamstown, Ky., Brenda Adams of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother-in-law, Larry (Diana) Wells; and several nieces and nephews.

He was proceded in death by a son, Larry Douglas Adams, and a brother, Phillip Owen Adams.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. at Woodhead Funeral Home in Berry. Burial will follow in the Pythian Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Larry Wells, Robbie Cooper, Richard Dailey, Steven Craycraft, Jimmy Jackson, Jimmy Howard, Larry Loveland and Cecil Ritchie.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Greg Cooper, Dr. Phillip Desimone, Harry Million, Orla New and Danny Northcutt. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 5-9 pm at the funeral home.
