POLK CITY – Arthur Lee Whitlock, 70, of Polk City, died today in a Winter Haven hospital. He was a native of Dublin, Va., and moved to Polk County 40 years ago. He was a member of the Polk City Baptist Church and was a retired painting contractor.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bessie Whitlock; two daughters, Mrs. Pauline Rouse, Charleston, W. Va. and Mrs. J. R. Bridges, Polk City; one son, David G. Whitlock, Polk City; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Dunn, St. Petersburg and Mrs. P. F. Miller, Roanoke, Va.; five brothers, Otis Whitlock, Bassett, Va., T. E. Whitlock, Portsmouth, Va., Don Whitlock, New York City, T. C. Whitlock and W. S. Whitlock both of Lakeland.
Services will be tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Polk City with the Rev. Wilson Shields, pastor of Polk City Baptist Church, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. W. W. Watson. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Kersey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
