obituary, Elifritz--

Zeney Oman Elifritz, son or Martin and Mary Elizabeth Elifritz, was born at Washington County, Ill. August 8, 1883. He was the last one of a family of 6 children. He passed away Sunday morning about 7 o'clock at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 1 day.


After the death of this mother, March 24, 1887, at the age of 3 1/2 years, he came with his sister and twin brother to Nebraska to make his home with his grandparents. His father and brother, Walter, followed in 7 months. He moved to his present home in December 1887 and has remained there for 75 years.


He united with the United Brethren Church in Angus in 1906 and in 1924 changed his membership to the First Presbyterian Church in Edgar with his family.


He was a member of Masonic Order and Eastern Star.


He was united in marriage to Marnishia Cox on Dec 25, 1906. To this union 4 children came to bless their home: Verona Peters, Pearl Gustafson ad Marvin of Edgar and Evelyn Arnold of Palo Alto, Calif; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, other relatives and friends mourn his loss.


Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 2 o'clock in the Edgar Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lyle Graff of Ord officiating. Bill Peters and Robert Bailie with Ruth Mary McGhie at the organ, sang "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder" and "Beyond the Sunset." Pall bearers were Bert Anderson, Ervin Branstitre, Merlin Greer, Wayne Johnson, Homer Melvin and Howard Springer. Masonic graveside services were conducted by Edgar A. F. & A. M. Interment, under the direction of McGhie Funeral Home was in Edgar Cemetery.


Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Alvie Reed, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hall and Mrs. Dale Hall, all of Elmwood; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barin, Bloomfield; Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Mearns, Bostwick; Mrs. Fred Gustafson, Mrs. Anna Epkes and Harold, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Peters, Hastings; Mrs. Sara Gimbal of Kansas City, Mo.; R. A. Kinnison, Akron, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Gustafson, Lincoln; Mrs. Frank Barrows, Miss Vivian Cole, Mrs. Nellie Gray, Mrs. Jack Wehrman of Nelson and Mrs. Garth Melvin of Aurora.
