SPANISH AMERICAN WAR VETERAN

George J. Beck was the son of George and Sophia (Warnke) Beck. He was born November 18, 1871 in Suspension Bridge, Maryland. He was five foot six and one half inches tall and had a medium complexion. His occupation was trapper.

MILITARY RECORD:
Enlisted April 11, 1898 at Ft. Slocum, New York. Assigned to Company "A", 72nd Coast Artillery. Discharged April 10, 1901 at Fort Greble, Rhode Island. Reenlisted on April 11, 1901 and assigned to the 26th Coast Artillery, and discharged at Ft. Flagler, Washington on November 5, 1901 as a SGT. Pension awarded on Certificate No. C-2512321.

He was married to Adaline M. Beck in October 23, 1930 in Bellingham, Washington, and divorced on June 27, 1950.

He had lived at the Whipple Hospital in Prescott, Arizona before applying for admission to the Old Soldiers' Colony in Orting.

Mr. Beck died at the age of 87 years on July 21, 1958, at the Veterans Hospital at Seattle and is buried in the Veterans Home Cemetery in Retsil, Washington.
