SPANISH AMERICAN WAR VETERAN WIDOW

Dorothy Ethel Andrews was born July 10, 1879 in Virginia, Illinois. She was the daughter of Dr. D. G. and Malinda (Thompson) Smith. Her usual occupation was nurse.

She married Frank A. Andrews on December 25, 1910 at Maysville, Missouri. She was the mother of four children, Mrs. Earl J. Hubble and Mrs. R. H. (Luzelle) Huffman, both of Maysville, Missouri; Mrs. W. R. (Eleanor) Stanton of Renton, Washington; and Mr. Frank D. Andrews of Vinton, Iowa. Her sister, Mrs. D. L. Swimfort, lived in Seattle.

Mr. Andrews was a veteran of the Spanish American War, having served in Company "E", 1st Colorado Infantry. The couple became members of the Washington Veterans' Home in August 1954. They had been living in Auburn.

Her husband died in 1960. She died at the Veterans' Home on August 7, 1961 at the age of 82 years. Mr. and Mrs. Andrews are buried next to each other in the Veterans' Home Cemetery.
