Mattson-Watson Vows Exchanged In Church Rites

Sunday afternoon, July 11 at 4 o'clock in the Methodist church, Miss Shirley Watson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Crede Watson, of Goldendale, became the bride of Gerald Mattson, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Mattson, of Centerville, in a beautiful single ring ceremony. Reverend Bruce B. Groseclose read the service.

Mrs. Arno Cooper, attired in a pale green and yellow formal, sang "Because" and "Yours is My Heart Alone." The wedding party then entered to the strains of Wagner's Lohengrin, played by Ruben Ausink at the organ. Mr Ausink also played "The Lord's Prayer" during the service and as the recessional Mendelssohn's Wedding March.

Pat Whitehill was the groom's best man; ushers were Kenneth West and Ronald Binns. Bridesmaids were Miss Sue Jean Guy, dressed in orchid net, and Miss Pat Wolverton, in yellow net. The bride's maid of honor, Miss Joanne Alderson, wore a gown of pale green.

All the attendants wore white picture hats and lace gloves and carried fans of white net and fuchsia gladiolus.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was dressed in a gown of white marquisette and shoulder length veil. She carried baby orchids on a white Bible.

The bride's mother was dressed in gray crepe and the mother of the groom was dressed in turquoise and black crepe. Both had corsages of pink rose buds.

A reception followed immediately in the church parlors. Mrs. Fred Davenport, of Goldendale, the bride's aunt, cut the wedding cake, and Mrs. Dale Bunnell, of McMinnville, Oregon, aunt of the groom, poured the punch. Mrs. Larry Cagle was in charge of the guest book.

Amid a shower of rice and well wishes the young couple left for a ten day trip to the Oregon beaches. Mrs. Mattson's going away outfit was a gray summer suit with white accessories and an orchid corsage.

Approximately two hundred persons witnessed the ceremony. Many out of town guests were present for the occasion including: Mr. and Mrs. Ben S. Bunnell, of Raymond; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Bunnell, of Yakima; Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Bunnell and Rod Bunnell, of Hood River, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl L. Davis, of The Dalles, Oregon; Mr. and Mrs. M.D. Bunnell, of McMinnville, Oregon; Dr. John L. Boling, of McMinnville, Ore.; Melvin J. Bunnell, of The Dalles, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan Bunnell, of Myrtle Point, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bunnell, of McMinnville, Ore.; and Mrs. M.A. Davidson, of The Dalles, Oregon.
