MARTIN K. MEADOR

Martin K. Meador was born in Potoka, Marion County, Illinois, Feb. 3, 1851. Died at Larned, Pawnee County, Kansas, May 6, 1925, aged 74 years, 3 months and 3 days. He was married to Athaline Howell, April 11th, 1873, who departed this life October 12, 1888. To this union were born four children, two of whom died in childhood. The two surviving are Mrs. J.C. Redimer of Oklahoma and Edgar Meador of Washington.

He again united in marriage to Ella L. Heatley, April 21, 1891. To this union were born two children: Lee Meador of Larned and Mrs. Geo. Rush of Garfield, who with his wife survive him.

He lived in Illinois until 1883, when he moved with his family to Missouri, remaining there five years, then moved to Kansas in 1887. Later he moved to Okla., where he lived 12 years; then he returned to Coolidge, Kansas, where he engaged in the grocery business. For several years, Mr. Meador has been an invalid as a result of a paralytic stroke.

As a young man, he was a member and active in the M.E. church, but did not transfer his membership to the Larned Methodist church until 1923.

He was a member of the the Masonic Lodge No. 316 of Coolidge, Kansas.

He leaves besides a wife and children, two sisters, Mrs. Geo. Wernsman of Potoka, Ill., Mrs. Rue Nichols of Boulder, Ill., and one brother, N.F. Meador of Whiteland, Mo., and a host of friends.

A patient sufferer has been released from the limitations that this life brings to us with added years and afflictions.
