William Thornton Funeral Friday

Funeral for William Lee Thornton, 85, of 426 Portland Ave., will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Highland Church of Christ with James Willeford, minister, and E. R. Harper, former minister of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery under direction of Laughter-North Funeral Home.

Mr. Thornton died at his home at 10:55 a.m Wednesday. Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Born Nov. 27, 1872 in Fayette County, Ala., he came to Abilene from East Texas in 1919. He farmed west of Abilene until 1939 when he retired.

He was married lo Rillia Meads Aug. 24. 1902 in East Texas. He was a member of the Highland Church of Christ

Survivors arc his wife, four daughters. Mrs. Audry Powell of Odessa, Mrs. W. M. Anthony of Fort Worth, Mrs. A. C. Dobbs of 333 Portland Ave. and Mrs. Luke Wetsel of 302 Portland Ave; two sons, Pressley Thornton, 510 Sycamore St. and Curtis Thornton of Los Angeles, Calif.: three sisters Mrs. Lula Moschelle, Mrs. Florence Swafford and Mrs. Mae Eddins,all of Abilene; two brothers, Murry Thornton ond Glen Thornton, both of Abilene, 17 grandchild, (not sure what the following is but this is what is displayed in the newspaper) cnn3g3drarcndr-ngl.chia r adtedrcn and 33 great-grandchildren.
