Mrs. Virginia M. Lasher, 42, wife of Charles A. Lasher, of Ormsby, died in Bradford Hospital at 4:40 a.m. Thursday, after having been admitted about midnight. She was ill for several years. Mrs. Lasher was born in Dallas, Texas, on June 13, 1919. She came to McKean County with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony J. Balon, and settled in the Bingham area in 1930. She attended the Smethport schools and graduated from Smethport High School. She was married to Mr. Lasher of Ormsby on Sept. 1, 1936, in Allegany, N.Y. Because Mr. Lasher's work with the United Natural Gas Co. took him to various places, the couple did not move lo the Ormsby area until 1934. She was employed for a time at the Backus Novelty Co. and later with the Herzog Specialty Co., both of Smethport. Her last employment was with the Speer Carton Co. in Bradford. Surviving besides her husband are five sons, Charles A., Fred R., John P., Edward M., and Richard A. Lasher, all at home; her mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Fritz, of Ormsby; two grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Johnson of Gifford. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fry Funeral Home in Smethport. The Rev. William H. Bowman, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Bradford, officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Park Black, Robert Bloss, Albert Wilson, Marlin Hagg. Floyd Towner and Russell Chestnut. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery here.
