this obituary is very darkened and very difficult to read, also very short one. If I say___________it means that I cant read.

Philander Alden, aged 84, died at his home of his son, R.M, (?) Alden on Maple----He was a direct decedant of John alden and Priscilla Mullen, of Longfellow's poem The -------of Miles Standish." In the early day he was in the underground railraod business back in Ohio. His father was an abolitionist and helped many colored families though Canada before the Civil War.

________ it looks like I only missed about two or three words, sorry really it was a rather short obit.

Other grave member sent me email saying that he was born in
May 14, 1830, at French Creek, Upshur County, West Virginia
so that was my source of birthplace
