William Albert Beck registered for the World War I Draft on Sep 12, 1918. He was living in Parkin and working for Will M. Mann of Parkin. He stated that he was age 35, born May 5, 1883. His nearest relative was his father, Lorenzo Dow Beck, of Greenwood, Caddo Parish, Louisiana, He was medium height and build with brown eyes and brown hair.
W. A. Beck and Bertha Martin, both of Parkin, were married 21-Apr-1921 in Cross County, AR. Bertha Martin was the daughter of Ben Martin and Lottie Chambly who are buried in this cemetery. At the time of her death in 1992, she had been married to a Zachary.
At the time of the 1930 census, W. A. Beck age 47, and wife, Bertha, age 26, were living in Norvell, Crittenden County. They had one child, Ed Beck (James Edward), age 4, and William’s widowed mother, 70 year old Annie Beck. They were living on the Frank Rusinger Farm where William A. Beck was a cotton farmer.
In 1940, 87 year old Annie Beck was living in Norvell with her 52 year old widowed daughter, Clevie Beck Hill, who was a seamstress for a WPA sewing room. Where is Annie Beck buried?
