Irma E. Brooks, 100 years of age, of Adams, died Friday afternoon, April 3, 2009, at the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams. She was born on December 21, 1908, at Unadilla and moved with her family to Tecumseh where she attended Tecumseh High School. She worked for LT&T as an operator before marrying Kenneth Brooks. They moved to Mount Vernon, Washington where she worked for AT&T until her retirement. She moved back to Nebraska in 2004 to be closer to her family. She was a member of the Christian Church and the Moose Lodge Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and going dancing and was an accomplished seamstress.

Survivors include one sister Norma Eilers and husband Alfred of Sterling; one brother Lyle Buchanan and wife Durene of Irene, South Dakota; several generations of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mable DeFreece Buchanan, her husband Kenneth Brooks, and one sister Leila Douglas.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at the Gold Crest Retirement Center Chapel with Pastor April Dietz and Pastor Doyle Karst officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 18, at the Tecumseh Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge. A register book for signatures will be available on Saturday, April 18, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the Gold Crest Retirement Chapel.
