When Edith was 17 years old she entered nurses training at St. John's Hospital, San Angelo, Texas. She was under the usual required age of 18, but she had made outstanding grades in Latin in high school, so she was accepted. When nurses were needed so much during the "flu" epidemic in 1918, she started private duty nursing at $10.00 a day, in order to help pay her expenses for further training and to help in this time of emergency.

MRS. EDITH E. HUFFMAN

SAN MARCOS - Funeral for Mrs. Edith Estelle Huffman will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home in Glen Rose. Burial will be in Lanham Mill Cemetery in Glen Rose.

Mrs. Huffman, 67, died Thursday in San Marcos. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Dangelene Garland, Mrs. Emma Jane Grace, and Mrs. Betty Clay Payne all of San Marcos; two brothers, Edgar Porter Finney, California, and Martin Sheldon Finney, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Edna C. Allison, San Angelo; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
