The family had a homestead by Cranes Flat and they all enjoyed making a trip by wagon, which they did each summer.
She met Sydney Marvie McCarrel in 1933. They were married May 17 of that year in Idaho Falls. They had five daughters and one son. Marvie preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1976.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Religion was always a large part of her life. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for many years.
Lena worked for 30 years in potato warehouses as a sorter.
Many happy times were spent camping out with her family, a tradition that her family still enjoys.
She is survived by her children; Vivian (Harry) Hedin of Moreland, Joan (Darrell) Cotterell of Plymouth, Calif., Fern (Kay) Brown of Firth, Marlene Rogers of Firth, Marvie Dean (Connie) McCarrel of Houston, Alaska, Barbara Foster of Blackfoot, Cathy (Brent) Baldree of Idaho Falls; one sister, Eva Manwaring of Idaho Falls; 26 grandchildren, 62 great- grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvie; six brothers, Delbert, Glen, Lee, Edwin, Percy, and Harold; and four sisters, Rosiland, Zelda, Myrtle, and Clara.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, with Bishop Noel Johnson conducting. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at the funeral home and again for one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery
