Samuel Noyes was born February 5, 1691 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts to John and Mary E. Poore Noyes. He removed to Abington, Plymouth County, Massachusetts with his oldest brother, Nicholas, in 1712. He married Hannah Poore in 1714 and their children were: Samuel Jr., Daniel, Mary, John, Benjamin, Abigail, Ebenezer and Jacob. Samuel was elected selectman in 1719 and was town clerk in 1726. He was always referred to as a blacksmith on town deeds. His homestead lot was on the Bridgewater-Weymouth Road east of Stream's Swamp. He owned four major tracts of land along the Abington-Bridgewater border. He owned iron mines in Stoughton and 12% of an iron forge in Bridgewater (Packard's Mill). Samuel died at the age of thirty eight November 6, 1729 at Abington and is presumed buried there.
