1906-2009

Mary Gertrude Strickland, age 102 years, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at home in Pensacola.

She was born Sept. 19, 1906, in Chipley, FL. She married Clyde Hamilton Strickland in 1926 and moved to Pensacola. She was employed at Baptist Hospital for many years and was a long time member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Clifton LaShade Strickland and Clyde Hamilton Strickland, Jr.

Survivors include her two daughters, Mary Frances Aliberti and Harriet Arlene Eastman and two daughters-in-law, Mary Evelyn Strickland and Matilda Powers Strickland; also eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Thursday, April 16, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Pleitz Chapel, with Dr. Barry Howard officiating.

Burial: at Bayview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Recreation Outreach Center (ROC), 500 Palafox St., Pensacola, FL 32501.

Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.
