Isaac H. Brubaker

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted at the stated age of seventeen and mustered into federal service at Chambersburg February 22, 1865, as a private with Co. I, 79th Pennsylvania Infantry. On May 10, 1865, he was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, Virginia, for an as yet unknown illness and honorably discharged by general order to date July 31, 1865, nineteen days after the rest of his company. His obituary in the Beatrice Daily Sun claims he discharged the service at Philadelphia's Mowrer (Chestnut Hill) U.S. Hospital on May 3, 1865, but Bates History of Pennsylvania Volunteers, the Pennsyvlania Archives' ARIAS file, and the company register all use the July 31 discharge date. Moreover, the muster roll is clear on the date he entered the hospital in Richmond, so he could not have discharged in Philadelphia a week earlier.
In 1860 he was living with his farming family in Antrim Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Contributor: Dennis Brandt (47232334) • [email protected]

Died June 29, 1903

Beachley, T. H. Burke, S. B. Hershey, J. F. Steele, Dr. J. S. McCleery and J. R. McCann.
