James Aldridge, father of Joseph, was born in 1742, died 7 Dec. 1807 Caswell Co N. C.
He is buried in Bush Arbor Baptist Church in Caswell Co. N. C. this is a primitive Baptist Church.
Children of James and Alsey Aldridge as found in settlement of his estate are:
Joseph, Susan (m. David Melton), James Jr., John, Sarah, Richard Simpson (m. Lucy Pleasant on 21 Jan. 1822, Bondsman Micajah Pleasant Jr.). March 1808 court appointed Solomon De Bow guardian of Sarah, Joseph, James, Susannah, Richard Simpson orphans of James Aldridge deceased..
This James Aldridge was a regulator in 1768 in the list of Orange Co. N. C. Regulators. From data in the hands of the complier it appears that the following are brothers of James. Nathan also a regulator, b. 1739 d. 1826 Knox Co. Tenn. and William b. 1729 d. Randolph Co. N. C. buried McMasters Cemetery in Randolph.
Nicholas (also a regulator 1768, Orange Co.) have no dates on him, but during the Rev. war he was in Rowan Co. N. C. died in Ga. 1794 (will). He had a son William who fought in the Rev. and died in Ga. b. 1754 in Rowan Co.
Nathaniel may have been another brother. In the early records of this family Nathan and Nathaniel are not the same name and are used in the same family. Nathaniel was in Tryon Co. N. C. His wife was named Rosamond. He left N. C. and appears to have gone to S. C. The 1790 census of S. C. gives a Nathaniel Sr. and Jr.
