John Joseph Bentze Jr. was born in 1931 to Mr. and Mrs. John Joseph Bentze Sr. and died at age 30 or 31 (obituaries state both ages) on 14 Aug 1961 in Milford, Conn. John Jr. had married Gladys Catherine (Cote) Bentze just a few months prior on 15 Apr 1961, a wedding celebrated at Milford's St. Agnes Church with a reception at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Devon. At the time of his passing, John Jr. resided at 73 Golden Hill Street in Milford. He a Korean War naval veteran, having served aboard the aircraft carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt as an aviation ordinance man, and was a member of the Devon VFW post. A graduate of Milford High School and University of Connecticut, John Jr. worked for Frank J. Welch Real Estate Agency and Franklin Life Insurance Company. He was survived by wife Gladys Cote Bentze of Milford, mother Catherine McClinchey Bentze of Milford, and sisters Miss Kathleen Bentze of Southbury and Mrs. William Biggs of Patchogue, Long Island. A High Mass of Requiem was held at Milford's St. Mary's Church 16 Aug 1961 with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
