Born March 24, 1915, in LaFollette, she was the daughter of Pryor and Bertha Ayers.
Mrs. Lay was a homemaker and a longtime member of Robertsville Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Enos Lee Lay, who died Dec. 14, 1970.
Mrs. Lay is survived by her son, Delmas Lay and his wife, Patsy, of Harriman; her daughter, Evelyn Bolton and her husband, Don, of Oak Ridge; a grandson, David Lay of Denver, Colo.; two granddaughters, Donna Bolton Becker and her husband, Tom, of Hendersonville, N.C., and Lara Bolton Jenkins and her husband, Shawn, of Johnson City; two great-grandsons, Brian Becker and Brandon Becker, both of Hendersonville, N.C.; two brothers, Homer Ayers of LaFollette and Pryor Ayers and his wife, Lenoir, of Westland, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lay considered the children of Patsy Lay as special friends: Chet Burgess and his wife, Cathy, of Lenoir City, Frank Burgess and Clay Burgess and his wife, Roberta, all of Harriman, and Lynn Perella and her husband, David, of Sevierville.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by another son, James Lay, in 1986.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Michael Prince officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the National Kidney Foundation of East Tennessee, 4450 Walker Blvd., Suite No. 2, Knoxville, TN 37917-1523.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Gary Wells and the staff of the Oak Ridge Dialysis Center for the loving care given to their mother during the past year.
