Photo 1:
The white stone in the top right is GGG Grandfather Benjamin Upton's, and to the left, the base and the pedestal.
Below that is his daughter Florence McNorell's stone, and to the left of it, the base. Just above Florence's base you can see a small marker, that of her son Benjamin Lafayette McNorell.
Below Florence's and to the left is a small flat piece of what looks like concrete - the next trip proved this to be the base for daughter Sissy's stone.
Below this is the base and stone for another daughter Annie L. Upton. For each grave there is a head stone and a foot stone and all the grave stones are facing east.
In the photo you can also see the once perfect but still beautiful iron fence.
Photo 2:
IN MEMORY
OF
FLORENCE M. wife of
R.C. McNORELL
and daughter of
B. and A.M. UPTON
BORN MAY 1, 1865
DIED OCT. 23, 1887
Dear wife gone from earth
to heavenly realms of love
Faithful friend, daughter dear
may we meet thee above
Florence's stone has carved raised stalks of wheat at the top and a single rose stem at the lower right.
The stones of Florence M. Upton McNorrell and Benjamin Lafayette McNorrell tell a tragic tale.
Florence gave birth to Benjamin in September of 1887 and she died in October. The baby died in November.
