Lillian was born in Deerfield St., NJ on March 28, 1912 to the late Allen D. Sr. and Bessie (nee Hitchner) Ackley.
After graduating from Bridgeton High School with the class of 1930 she attended George Washington University in Washington, DC and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education in 1934 and her MS in 1950 from the University of Pennsylvania.
She taught in Salem High School from 1943 to 1978 retiring after 35 years in education, 25 years in which she served as Director of Guidance. She held memberships in the New Jersey Education Association and the National Education Association, Salem County Retired Educators Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Zeta State- N.J. Educational Sorority and the American Association of University Women (Cumberland County, N.J.)
Lillian was a member of the Deerfield Presbyterian Church, which she joined in 1922, and was a former elder, trustee, Sunday school teacher, former President of the Women's Missionary Society and choir member. She loved her church and spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by one brother Herbert M. Ackley of Woodstown, NJ and her caregivers Brian and Debbie Ackley of Deerfield St. and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers John J. Ackley, Chaplain Lt. Col. Robert H. Ackley, Chaplain Lt. Col. Allen D. Ackley, Jr. and Donald B. Ackley, and one sister Ruth Ackley.
